Empanadas in the Air Fryer

Traditional meat-filled empanadas can be a double-whammy of fat and calories due to ground beef and a trip to the deep fryer but by using an Air Fryer it will be more healthier and yummier that you can imagine.

  • Airfryer


  • 8 Goya empanada discs, in frozen section, thawed
  • 1 cup picadillo
  • 1 egg white, whisked
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • Cooking spray


  • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F or 204°C for 3 minutes. Spray the basket generously with cooking spray.
  • Place 2 tbsp of picadillo in the center of each disc. Fold in half and use a fork to seal the edges.
  • Whisk the egg whites with water, then brush the tops of the empanadas.
  • Bake 2 or 3 at a time in the air fryer and cook for 8 minutes, or until golden.
  • Remove from heat and repeat with the remaining empanadas.


  • If you can’t find puff pastry dough, then you can use pie crust and cut them into circles using a biscuit/ring butter.
